KIDS WITH DREAMS

I am Ruby Pemberton, aged 13. I live in England, UK… I started dance at aged seven and a half. My teachers were Beccy and Jodie.Ballet is so important in dance. It is the foundations of dance genres. It’s discipline and builds strength, balance and coordination. It builds confidence and skills that guide you through your dance life.I feel ballet has helped me so much in my technique and strength. Taught me how to use my feet well and how to extend my body through stretching. I train around 6 hours a day and do body conditioning, stretch. Ballet. Acro skills. Some contortion.

My proudest moment was when I was offered a funded place at three vocational dance schools. I chose to take the ballet school. My most challenging times have been the last few years. I don’t have much confidence or self-belief. I am quite shy, and I am still working on building my confidence up. I criticise everything I do in dance, and in any photos, I have taken. If a child loves ballet, I think you should let them try and follow their dreams. If they have support and selfbelief, they can achieve anything they want.

My dream is to one day teach and help other dancers who have the same drive as I do. I never give up, and I think everyone should be given a chance to shine and fulfil their dreams to showcase their talent.
